Embracing Bathroom Technology in Pod Design

Sophie Weston at Geberit looks at how pod and modular manufacturers can utilise technology to open up more design possibilities across projects.

Reduced water consumption

When it comes to the washroom space, technology can play a huge role in enhancing hygiene and wellbeing, as well as creating a sustainable environment.

Introducing a water-saving flush is key to this and Geberit have created the Flush Valve 212 to answer unprecedented demand from our customers.

The new flush valve type 212 is backwards-compatible with older cisterns and replaces the current flush valves seen in the Sigma, Delta and Omega cisterns. The volume of water for the water-saving dual flush can be set with ease. A large flush can be set on six levels ranging from 3.5 to 7.5 litres, meanwhile the small flush can be set on twelve levels of between two and four litres.

When flushing with minimal water, it is important that the speed of the flush water is tailored perfectly to the WC ceramic appliance. Our ceramics selection is tested and optimised to be perfectly paired with our installation systems allowing for a clean, efficient flush without water splashes.

This means the new flush valve 212 makes a significant contribution to the resource-saving use of water, with optimal flushing out of the WC ceramic appliance achieved with only minimal flush volumes.

Wall-hung sanitaryware

Technology and innovation can come in many different forms. Wall-mounted furniture and ceramics, which create the illusion of 'floating' above the floor, can offer a space-saving solution that opens up the pod and creates a streamlined design.

The premise is simple. Wall-hung toilets are made possible in bathrooms thanks to the inclusion of quick and affordable pre-wall frame systems, such as Geberit Duofix. By concealing the cistern behind a stud wall, a wall-hung toilet reduces the outward projection of the ceramic.

In smaller pods, opting for wall-hung ceramics can make a real difference - the ability to conceal the cistern and lift the toilet's footprint off the floor can make even the smallest of bathroom spaces instantly appear bigger. Servicing and access to the cistern is also made easy via the flush plate.

Opting for a Geberit wall-hung bathroom offers the opportunity to add value and unlock opportunities across projects: from incorporating Geberit's DuoFresh odour extraction technology or touchless flush plates to future proofing the bathroom with superior acoustic flush performance and adjustable seat heights.
