Ohio Valley Precast LLC, a newly-formed subsidiary The Bristol Group, plans to open a $12.2 million precast concrete manufacturing facility in Charlestown, IN that will employ about 80 workers, announced One Southern Indiana, an organization promoting business investments in southern portions of the state, on Tuesday.
“Southern Indiana is experiencing an incredible amount of economic activity, and we certainly took note,” said a statement by Todd Ball, president of Ohio Valley Precast. “Strategically it make a lot of sense for our business to be a part of this market, and we look forward to continued growth and success here.”
The company received up to $625,000 in conditional Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) tax credits with the assistance of One Southern Indiana and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC).
“Ohio Valley Precast’s decision to establish operations in Indiana continues a trend of growth as businesses from across the country are choosing to locate in a state that works,” said Indiana state governor and vice president-elect Mike Pence. “We have worked diligently to create a low-tax, pro-growth business climate, which is ranked among the top five in the nation, and we are proud to be home to millions of hardworking Hoosiers.”
The Bristol Group entered precast concrete manufacturing in 2003 as demand began to grow. Precast panels are used in applications like highway sound barriers and construction of warehouses, residential dwellings, manufacturing facilities and parking garages. The company said that continued growth of the precast market drove the decision to open the Indiana facility.
