Contractors have been invited to bid for an £800m framework covering modular building systems in London, south east England and East Anglia.
The deal, set up by the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, is one of the UK’s biggest ever procurement programmes for offsite construction work.
The framework, which will run for four years, is divided into four lots:
1. Standard modular buildings for purchase
2. Standard modular buildings for hire
3. Bespoke modular buildings up to £3.5m
4. Bespoke modular buildings over £3.5m
Contractors may bid for all four lots, with up to 24 companies expected to be appointed in total.
Between five and 12 bidders are expected to be shortlisted per lot.
The deadline for expressions of interest is 29 September.
Barking & Dagenham Council is running the tender on an e-portal.
The framework will be used for a wide range of building types including general office accommodation, educational premises and hostel accommodation.
It will be available for use by public sector clients in the Greater London area, plus Essex, Hertfordshire, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Surrey and Kent.
Last week, the Greater London Authority proposed setting up a framework for factory-built homes.
