Wirral-based MMC housebuilder Starship is showcasing its latest housing projects and future plans. Specialising in using technology to construct low-carbon homes, Starship is positioning itself as a leader in the delivery of future homes
Last year, Starship relocated its manufacturing division and head office to Wirral, the place where the company originated.
Over 90% of their workforce hails from the borough.
Noteworthy recent developments include:
- The construction of eight carbon zero bungalows at Oakdale Road in Wallasey
- Six family homes in Oxton village as well
- 60 luxury holiday lodges which were delivered throughout the UK
Starship has forged a partnership with Wirral Met College
This is the first collaboration between a housing developer and a further education provider.
This partnership offers numerous students from the college invaluable opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge in manufacturing and construction.
These learning experiences take place both on-site and within the campus. They have also teamed up with Hugh Baird College and have delivered numerous training and upskilling sessions with their students on dedicated training rigs, which Starship designed and helped assemble.
Starship is constructing up to four homes per week
Dave Dargan, the CEO of MMC housebuilder Starship, emphasised the company's commitment to local communities, stating: "Our homes are hand-built in our manufacturing centres and completed by local contractors, ensuring that each home we deliver creates real employment opportunities and local economic benefits."
With a robust client base comprising housing associations, private developers, and investors, Starship is constructing up to four homes per week.
By leveraging panelised delivery, which minimises waste in manufacturing, storage, and transportation, the company streamlines the building process improving productivity and reducing carbon.
The houses are finished externally at the factory and can be installed on-site in as little as a day!
Advancing low-carbon construction methods across the industry

He highlighted the MMC housebuilder's efforts to provide much-needed affordable housing while incorporating sustainable technologies to reduce carbon emissions and assist residents in keeping their energy costs low.
Mea Park, Starship's manufacturing base, will be included in the Liverpool City Region Freeport and has the potential to serve as a centre of excellence for Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), including modular construction.
This development further solidifies Starship's commitment to innovation and its dedication to advancing the construction industry.
