Specialist offsite contractor M-AR Offsite is celebrating after being shortlisted for four awards at this year's Offsite Awards in recognition of the outstanding projects the team has completed over the last 12 months.
M-AR has been nominated in three categories – Building Performance Pioneer, Hybrid Project of the Year and Client of the Year where two M-AR projects have been shortlisted.
Patent Walk and Patent House - a new retirement complex in Doncaster constructed by M-AR for Housing 21 with an ambitious goal to achieve net zero in terms of operational carbon – has been shortlisted in two categories - Building Performance Pioneer and Client of the Year. The scheme comprises 20 affordable, energy efficient homes making it the largest net zero category one MMC/modular retirement complex in England. But it's going to be used as the basis for future research into energy efficient homes so its impact will be felt far beyond its residents, laying the foundations for homes of the future.
Also shortlisted in the Client of the Year category is the Reuben House project with Centrepoint, the UK's leading youth homelessness charity. The charity's goal is to end youth homelessness by 2037 and creating affordable accommodation as part of its new Independent Living Programme is central to achieving this aim. Reuben House was the very first project undertaken to date and by utilising offsite construction methods, M-AR was able to build with maximum efficiency to provide excellent long-term value for the charity and the young people it serves.
Rounding up this year's award nominations is Little Ilford School in the Hybrid Project of the Year Category. This large new three storey multi-functional teaching block with classrooms and corridors, an activity studio, ancillary staff rooms and new underground car parking area, was built adjacent to the existing school within its grounds.
The prestigious Offsite Awards recognise the very best of the UK offsite construction sector covering every aspect of the industry across 23 categories to celebrate the innovation and ingenuity that defines the offsite MMC sector. The winners of the ninth annual Offsite Awards will be announced at a special event in Coventry on Tuesday 19th September, held during the Offsite Expo.
