Project Overview

The Broxbourne School is a great example of how intelligent design, using offsite construction, can create an affordable solution to a once unaffordable project. The design team rationalised the building’s design, adopting a Component Led Approach and using a Structural Insulated timber Panels (SIP) unit so providing a sustainable and efficient structure and a thermal envelope to the building. Our "offsite first" approach has not only helped to secure the build, it has also helped to reduce health and safety risks, provide a better workplace environment for staff on site, better sustainability and quality assurance, as well as letting the works continue safely on-site without issues throughout the pandemic. The finished project was delivered 6 months ahead of schedule; it also saved both significant cost and time – thus realising the savings which the Client aspired to. Without these savings the scheme wouldn’t have proceeded as other Contractors had previously failed to achieve the absolute fixed budget. The efficiency savings achieved through adopting the offsite approach has meant that the School has benefitted from significantly enhanced internal and external environments.
