Project Overview

FP McCann are scaling new heights with The Lansdowne building in Birmingham. The company's structural precast concrete building and architectural facades division has worked in close partnership with Interserve on the construction of this new 16 storey, 206-unit residential apartment building for the Build to Rent/Private Rental Sector. This £26 million development is a joint venture between property investment group Seven Capital and real estate manager Long Harbour.
Taking just nine days to complete each of the floors - the supporting structure comprises external and internal precast concrete walls. The external facade panels have been designed and manufactured offsite at McCann's specialist architectural precast facility in Weston Underwood near Derby.
The innovative external walls are of a 'sandwich' construction (twin skin) with the outer skin being of a detailed brick façade design - the bricks have been precast into the concrete panels offsite together with an insulation layer which sits between the inner and outer concrete skins. The precast panels have been designed to accommodate the two-storey high windows, a unique feature of the building.
