Project Overview

Castle Boulevard was an important construction project set to deliver 66 much needed high quality student apartments within the Nottingham City Centre. The project was extremely restricted due to the unusual dimensions of the 11 metre wide site while being directly adjacent to the canal side, so much so, the main contractor, Stepnell, had to ensure that a kayak remained on site as part of the health and safety policy.

Kondor had to work intensely with the contractor as well as the logistic teams to ensure that our en-suite pods would arrive on site in a secure way with all restrictions known and taken into account. Muthar Al-Salloum, the managing director of MAS Architecture, stated that every element was designed to a high end finish 'creating a luxurious environment for students to thrive in'. Kondor was brought on board to help achieve these aspirations.

Italian furnishings and a Japanese style W/C was introduced within each en-suite shower room. The design considerations for the bespoke en-suite pods started with the layout, the restricted area called for a compact design. The most stand out features of the pods was the grey coloured walls and a Vitra wall hung bidet toilet with remote control operation.
