Project Overview
The St Hilda's project is a housing development in Leeds providing a number of 2 bedroom semi-detached properties, and a detached 3 bedroom property for Together Housing Association. Together are one of the largest northern Registered Providers, keen to develop a solution to help address the housing shortage.
Osco Homes are a new and creative homebuilder, developing high quality solutions to tackle the core issues of skill shortage and waste, which blight traditional building methods, increasing cost and time.
The light gauge steel panelised system breaks each building into manageable segments which can be manufactured and transported easily. These elements include externally complete walls with windows and doors, floor & ceiling cassettes and finished roof panels.
Using the principles of lean and mass customisation, Osco has established a low tech, high quality build methodology that provides a route from low to highly skilled operative, helping address the skills shortage.
Through this approach, Osco is working with HMP Hindley to deliver a training and employment scheme, greatly reducing re-offending and providing significant savings to the public purse as well as incalculable benefits to their families and communities.
