Project Overview
The Olive School, Preston, was in urgent need of a new school before their temporary lease expired. Spatial Initiative brought the benefits of Modern Methods of Construction to provide a new 420- pupil school. In addition to the challenge of a tight programme, our team was faced with the unprecedented challenge of a global pandemic including a series of national and local lockdowns and a need for enhanced health & safety procedures during manufacturing and installation. Despite this, we delivered the school to programme, on budget, complying with the DfE's exacting requirements. Notable achievements included: • 88% Pre-Manufactured Value • 70% works undertaken off-site • 95% SME supply chain • 95% local work force • Minimal on-site trades/labour • Zero H&S accidents/incidents in 40,000-man hours • Zero reported defects Charles Greenall, STAR Academies Head of Capital Programme “Everyone involved should be proud to have delivered the new school in the midst of the pandemic. Given the circumstances we were concerned whether the school would be completed on time. However Spatial Initiative were exceptionally proactive & quick to adapt their way of working, ensuring the school was completed to programme, ready for occupation"
